GBi wins two 2002 Healthcare Advertising Awards
MINNEAPOLIS (June 2002) — GeigerBevolo and North Memorial Medical Center were honored by the 19th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards, with two awards in the category of hospitals with 200-499 beds. The awards recognized the design of North Memorialâs Web site, called the Online Care Center, and a promotional package featuring an MSNBC Video.
North Memorialâs Web site features âcare areasâ? organized by condition, such as cancer, childbirth or common ailments. While secondary navigation functions allow access to other information such as employment opportunities or directions to the hospital, the primary navigation – and the bulk of the siteâs information – lies with the condition-related care areas.
According to Chris Bevolo, a partner at GeigerBevolo, the site followed a two-month strategic process that started with a simple question – why would patients visit a hospital Web site? He explains, âThe visitor really wants to know âwhatâs in it for me?â In the case of hospitals, if I have heart disease, I want to know how this hospital will care for me, what services are available for me, what doctors can help me – and thatâs all related to my heart disease. This structure tries to meet that expectation by providing information in a more convenient, patient-oriented way.â?
Anthony Gardner, director of marketing at North Memorial, agrees, âThe information is comprehensive. Our Web site has really become an extension of the care we provide our community – thus the new name of our site: North Memorialâs Online Care Center.â? The MSNBC Video Packaging was developed to promote an âMSNBC Investigates: Life and Deathâ? cable television episode that aired in 2001 featuring North Memorial Medical Center. The 19th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards received 3,300 entries. The Awards are hosted by HMR Publications Group.
